Castañeda’s Marketplace

Founded 2007

Jose Castañeda started Castañeda’s Marketplace in Windsor in 2007. He traded in a career selling computer chips in Silicon Valley, for selling tortilla chips at his community market in Windsor. So as he puts it, “still in the chip business.” Castañeda’s specializes in specialty and traditional foods from Mexico including produce, meat, and artisan baked goods. Castañeda’s is both a market where you can buy ingredients, but you can also purchase prepared foods traditionally made onsite such as tacos and burritos. Castañeda incorporates common local ingredients with imported and traditional Mexican ingredients resulting in a distinctive localized twist on his menu.

 Their Windsor Story:

Mr. Castañeda chose Windsor because of “familia”. His family is here and he is also drawn to the overall importance that the Town and people of Windsor place on family. His business is thriving in the Windsor community and contributing to the sense of community at the same time.

“Family is a big part of Windsor. Windsor has a history of being family-centric, community centric, and it’s beginning to shine. There is a lot of potential here in Windsor.”
